Determination of Rheological Properties and Dispersion Quality of Shear Thickening Fluid

In this research, the rheological properties of non-Newtonian shear thickening fluid (STF) composed nano-sized solid particles have been investigated. The best conditions determined by optimizing both experimental production method and measurement system STFs. Mechanical, ultrasonic, mechanical ultrasonic mixing methods were used in STFs that silica particle (solid: aerosil) polyethylene glycol (liquid medium: PEG). Also, spacing between plates was changed during measurements effect on character suspension also compared. Although homogenization obtained with mixer produced STFs, lowest performance observed these samples. at high speed a mixer, viscosity increased abruptly increasing rate. measurements, it gap change parallel did not affect characteristics much.
