This study was carried out by the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann, 1824) (Diptera: Tephritidae)) in apple, pear, peach and nectarine orchards villages of Iğdır Province Central district 2021 order to determine population development damage rate cultivated plants. The pest followed using delta trap + McPhail type (Decis Trap) traps containing pheromone an orchard Bayraktutan, Çalpala, Kuzugüden Küllük villages, representing region. Traps placed gardens are at a height 1.5 – 2 m from ground, on outward facing branches trees, south-south east direction. Counting adults caught done once week between 5 September 21 November 2021. fruits determined examining 50 randomly selected or every two weeks date started appear traps. highest level adult recorded 24 October first were seen 5th. Global Assessment of Seasonal Potential Distribution of Mediterranean Fruit Fly, Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae)

The Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly) is one of the world's most economically damaging pests. It displays highly seasonal population dynamics, and the environmental conditions suitable for its abundance are not constant throughout the year in most places. An extensive literature search was performed to obtain the most comprehensive data on the historical and contemporary spatio-temporal occurren...

Reproductive biology of Fopius ceratitivorus (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), an egg–larval parasitoid of the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae)

The reproductive biology of Fopius ceratitivorus Wharton, a recently discovered African parasitoid, was studied in quarantine in Hawaii to facilitate its mass production for biological control of the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata. Mean longevity of host-deprived and ovipositing females was 17.3 ± 0.9 d and 16.2 ± 0.5 d, respectively. Ovarian maturation peaked at 61.6 mature eggs p...

Ecological niches and potential geographical distributions of Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) and Natal fruit fly (Ceratitis rosa)

Fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) are globally distributed picture-winged flies of variable size. Tephritidae, with > 4000 species described, ranks among the most diverse groups of true flies (White & Elson-Harris, 1992; Thompson, 1999). They are almost all phytophagous, with larvae developing in the seedbearing organs of plants. Although they are commonly named ‘fruit flies’, larval developme...
