Determination of Heavy Metals in Edible Palm Oil Adultrated with Plant Dye: Experimental Investigation

چکیده

From generation to generation, edible palm oil has been a staple of the human diet and improved both nutrition health. The goal current research was determine whether it possible tamper with by adding natural potash (lake salt) red dye made from leaf sheath sorghum bicolor. In order create tainted known concentrations adulterant ratios, ranging 0.01-0.1% 0.1-1.0%, respectively, were produced in water added fresh at oil/adulterant ratios 10:1-10:10. Adulterated samples underwent visual inspection for appearance, as well sensory evaluation quality indicators. Even below 0.01%, addition caused typical orange hue become yellowish red, also product consistency. Zn 8.060.06, Cd 1.010.05, Ni 1.000.00, Co 125.910.09, Pb 9.300.07 Cobalt, Lead, other heavy metals found be over detectable level WHO standard, whereas within permissibility limit. findings this study suggest that if sufficient oversight is not provided regulatory bodies, might pose risk public's As result, point production consumption, our local processed better screened.

Heavy Metals in Edible Vegetables

The levels of four different heavy metals [cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), chromium (Cr) and copper (Cu)] were determined in various vegetables [leek (Allium ampeloprasum), sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum), parsley (Petroselinum crispum), garden cress (Lepidium sativum) and tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus)] cultivated around Sanandaj City. The contributions of the vegetables to the daily intake of heavy...

Experimental Investigation on the Performance and Emission Characteristics of Edible and Non-Edible Oil

Biodiesel is a fatty acid alkyl ester which is renewable, biodegradable and non-toxic fuel which can be derived from any vegetable oil and animal fats. Vegetable oils and animal fats in their raw form have high viscosity that makes them unsuitable as fuels for diesel engines. Transesterification is one of the well-known process by which fats and oils are converted into biodiesel. The reaction o...

A New Emulsion Liquid Membrane Based on a Palm Oil for the Extraction of Heavy Metals

The extraction efficiency of hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI), from water has been investigated using a vegetable oil based emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) technique. The main purpose of this study was to create a novel ELM formulation by choosing a more environmentally friendly and non-toxic diluent such as palm oil. The membrane phase so formulated includes the mobile carrier tri-n-octylmethylammon...

Determination of Heavy Metals in Fish Products

Cadmium, lead and mercury contents in fish were studied. Fresh and frozen fish from 17 FAO localities were bought in Czech markets. Atomic absorption spectrometry technique was used for determination of cadmium, lead and mercury concentration. Ten samples exceeded the maximum permissible limit for mercury (0.5 mg/kg or 1 mg/kg for selected fish species) and three fish samples exceeded the maxim...

Red palm oil in experimental atherosclerosis.

Oil obtained initially in harvesting the fruit of the oil palm is red due to its content of carotenes, tocopherols and tocotrienols. Table 1 presents the average fatty acid, carotene and tocotrienol composition of red palm oil (RPO). In the past, the compounds imparting the red colour to the oil have been removed and sold separately under the name of palmvitee. Palmvitee has been shown to lower...
