DETERMINATION OF GENETIC DIVERSITY IN PORTUNUS PELAGICUS (LINNAEUS, 1758) COLLECTED FROM GULF OF MANNAR

In the present study, marine crab Portunuspelagicus was screened with 17 primers and made to score polymorphism. The main emphasis of study assess genetic diversity at intra specific level among 3 accessions P. pelagicus species Gulf Mannarusing RAPD markers. analysis shows that there is a high polymorphism different accessions. From this it understood each location varied respect environmental factors parameters. OPB-18, OPB-19, OPC-07 OPN-06 produced distinct, highly reproducible amplification profile for all samples. bands ranged between 250 663 bp. Maximum numbers were by least OPB-19. Moderate observed in geographic samples from analysis. three geographical regions clear polymorphic patterns. Thoothukudi Rameshwaram populations appear one cluster, while Kanyakumari formed other cluster indicating variability collected places.
