Detention Reservoir: Proposal for Flood Control in the Ipiranga Stream Basin, Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil

In order to provide parameters for sizing a damping reservoir, which was intended control the floods that occur in Ipiranga Stream basin, routine developed Visual Basic Applications (VBA) is used. From identification of most critical point flood, hydrological flow data are presented, estimated by dividing basin into sub-basins, using Rational method, resulting value higher than admissible one stream channel. The method used dimensioning reservoir flood routing. After making pre-selection interesting place position insertions situation existent were made VBA application, generate scenarios and enable choice an ideal situation, view presented constraints. A very acceptable feasible result pointed out, indicating general basin.
