Detection and evaluation of rolling stock wheelset defects using acoustic emission
نویسندگان
چکیده
Acoustic emission (AE) can be employed for the early fault detection of rolling stock wheelset components. Research has been carried out on development a remote condition monitoring (RCM) technology online defects. Railway axle bearings and wheels are critical components that develop faults at any time when in service. AE is reliable passive RCM technique quantitative evaluation structural integrity wheelsets. The emphasis this study placed results obtained from experimental work performed under laboratory field testing conditions. Several tests were using different bearing In addition, customised system installed Chiltern Rail Line, adjacent to hot box detector, was used comparison purposes. Using this, signal analysis order detect potential faults. Defect type quantification also achieved, leading effective diagnosis bearings.

Study of the Frictional Surface Damage Using Acoustic Emission Method
In this study, the change at rubbing surfaces has been investigated experimentally using an acoustic emission signal monitoring system. A steel ring is slipped on the surface of a metallic sheet to simulate frictional conditions. The mechanical disturbances caused by the movement of the ring produce stress waves propagating along the sheet surface. The out of plane displacement of the sheet su...
متن کاملNondestructive Evaluation of Welding Crack Defects in Structural Component Of Track Crane Using Acoustic Emission Technique
On-line defects detection of structural component of track crane such as crane boom, outriggers, turntable and vehicle frame, is a difficult problem of nondestructive testing (NDT). In the present study, the usefulness of acoustic emission (AE) measurements for the detection of welding crack defects in the specimen made of HG70 steel, which is widely used for manufacturing structural component ...
متن کاملAcoustic Emission Detection Using Fiber Bragg Gratings
A systematic study of acoustic emission detection using fiber Bragg grating sensors is presented. In this, we attempt to use the fiber Bragg grating to sense the dynamic strain created by a passing ultrasonic wave signal. Our goal is to see if such a sensor is possible, and if so, what the detection sensitivity and limitations will be. To answer these questions, we carried out several experimen...
متن کاملDamage evaluation and corrosion detection in concrete by acoustic emission
Acoustic emission (AE) techniques have been extensively studied and applied to nondestructive testings (NDT) of concrete and concrete structures. For damage evaluation, AE behavior of concrete under compression could be analyzed, applying the rate process theory. Based on Loland's model in damage mechanics, a relation between AE rate and the damage parameter is correlated. By quantifying intact...
