Detailed measured air speed distribution in four commercial buildings with ceiling fans

The layout of ceiling fans in buildings is challenging because the need to co-ordinate with other elements space, and resulting airflows within occupied space interact furniture. This study conducted detailed air speed measurements four different room sizes, furniture configurations, fan types, ceiling-fan-to-floor-area ratios. We measured speeds across spaces at heights while varying operation modes such as rotational speed, operating direction, number fans. In total, we collected 207,080 samples 343 sites under 20 test conditions. paper presents magnitude distribution speeds, cooling effects, their influencing factors. Airspeed Coverage Index (ACI=Fanairspeed(SF)×Fandiameter(D)Averageareaservedperceilingfan(A)) describes combined effects multiple factors on speed. ACI employed predict average occupant effect, yielding regression confidences higher than 0.95.
