Designing IAQ-Resilient Post-Pandemic Buildings

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant changes human life and habits. There is an increasing urgency promote occupants’ health well-being in the built environment where they spend most of their lives, putting indoor air quality (IAQ) spotlight. This study fits into this context, aiming provide useful information about design, construction, operation IAQ-resilient building post-pandemic era for it ensure a good trade-off between energy- health-related objectives. PRISMA guidelines were adopted conducting systematic review obtaining 58 studies that offered relevant results on two main research areas: (i) concept resilience, focusing its definition relation pandemic-related disruptions; (ii) design strategies are able increase buildings’ preventive measures involving engineering control. In addition, metrics decision-making tools make buildings attractive investors, cost-benefit analysis (CBA) technique, discussed. supported transition sector human-centered approach include IAQ resilience among priorities future guarantee well-being.
