The goal of optimizing material resources and the polyvalent use space lead to development new technologies within a renewed architectural spatiality, which from point view effectiveness choices allow for low-carbon buildings. climate emergency, in fact, asks us today reinterpret Vitruvius’ concept Firmitas according criteria durability reliability resilience associated with widespread usability functionality circularity (Utilitas) traceable throughout life cycle building. paper illustrates results scientific research project that led construction prototype “minimal” residence, designed built “total low” approach, characterized by regenerative design, economy, lightness, ease assembly, recyclability, as well excellent overall performance high levels comfort. idea building, easily assembled disassembled, is strength “Petite-Cabane” design concept: 3x3 m single-user minimum residential unit made Light Gauge Steel Building System (LGS) produced controlled automatically roll forming machine, technological energy envelope packages. small house becomes “mise en forme” “essential” equipment, performance, qualities, economic environmental costs are linked immediacy but also flexibility choices.
