Design of salinity tolerant in alkaline surfactant systems for high salinity reservoirs

چکیده
Chemical oil recovery from offshore reservoirs which are usually characterised by harsh conditions such as high salinities have remained a source of concern. This study assesses chemical compatibilities alkalis –surfactant systems under salinity and divalent ions (Ca2+ Mg2+). It analysed the synergy between alkali-surfactant slugs crude oil, leading to design an optimal low-cost alkaline- surfactant flooding. Three alkali systems: sodium hydroxide, metaborate ethylene-diamine-tetracetic acid-(EDTA/NaOH) were evaluated with two synthetic brines; one without (soft brine) other containing (hard brine). Compatibility these commercial-grade was based on fluid-fluid interaction. Phase behaviour experiments conducted determine alkali–surfactant compatibility brine. Solutions free precipitation used for interfacial-tension (IFT) phase separation analysis, obtained level readings calculate salinity. Results showed that all compatible soft brine, while hard brine highly controlled pH. Alkali-crude failed produce Type III micro-emulsion; however, addition achieved ultra-low IFT. EDTA/NaOH effectively sequestered like hence increasing solubilisation at higher Comparison both commercial surfactant, alcohol alkoxy sulphate pH exhibited optimum than metaborate. shows ≥ 11 increased above salinity, occurs resulting in reduced recovery.

Breeding Salinity Tolerant Grape rootstocks
Understanding the mechanism of salinity tolerance in any crop plant is a prerequisite to crop development with regards to this trait. However, analogous to agronomic breeding for yield, salt tolerance breeding in grapevines is hampered by the complex nature of the plant response to a soil solution containing a high concentration of salt (reviewed in M. Ashraf and P.J.C. Harris, eds., 2005, Abio...
متن کاملSalinity tolerant mutants of T. harzianum
Exposing a wild-type culture of Trichoderma harzianum to gamma irradiation induced two stable salt-tolerant mutants (Th50M6 and Th50M11). Under saline conditions, both mutants greatly surpassed their wild type strain in growth rate, sporulation and biological proficiency against Fusarium oxysporum, the causal agent of tomato wilt disease. Tolerant T. harzianum mutants detained a capability to g...

متن کاملThe Performance Evaluation of Viscous-Modified Surfactant Water Flooding in Heavy Oil Reservoirs at Varying Salinity of Injected Polymer-Contained Surfactant Solution
This study examines the effects of change in the concentrations of monovalent and divalent ions in the polymer-contained surfactant solution on the macroscopic behavior of viscous-modified surfactant waterflooding in heavy oil reservoirs. Salts that are used in this set of floods were sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, and calcium chloride. The results indicate that four different ranges ...
متن کاملMultistage vacuum membrane distillation (MSVMD) systems for high salinity applications
Multistage membrane distillation (MD) systems can have significantly higher efficiencies than their single stage counterparts. However, multistage MD system design has received limited attention. In this paper, the performance of a multistage vacuum membrane distillation (MSVMD) which is thermodynamically similar to a multi-stage flash distillation (MSF) is evaluated for desalination, brine con...
