Optimal control design of constant amplitude phase-modulated pulses: application to calibration-free broadband excitation.

An optimal control algorithm for generating purely phase-modulated pulses is derived. The methodology is applied to obtain broadband excitation with unprecedented tolerance to RF inhomogeneity.
