چکیده
Abstract Tactile perception and friction can be modified by producing a deterministic surface topography. Change of feature arrangement texture symmetry produce an anisotropic frictional behaviour. It is generally achieved through skin hysteresis promoting its deformation. This work investigates whether bidirectional created with microscale ellipsoidal asperity textures, thus relying on the adhesive component friction. For this purpose, four textured samples various dimensions were moulded silicone rubber having elastic modulus comparable to that skin. Coefficient measurements conducted in-vivo in two sliding directions range normal loads up 4 N. Finite element method (FEM) was used study deformation effects, explain observed difference, predict material influence. Measurements performed perpendicular major radii showed consistently higher coefficients than during parallel sliding. larger dimensions, change direction increased factor 2. The numerical analysis effect mostly related deflection. Bidirectional differences further controlled spacing, properties.

Design, Modeling, and Construction of a New Tactile Sensor for Measuring Contact-Force
This paper presents the design, modeling, and testing of a flexible tactile sensor and its applications. This sensor is made of polymer materials and can detect the 2D surface texture image and contact-force estimation. The sensing mechanism is based on the novel contact deflection effect of a membrane. We measure the deflection of the membrane with measuring the strain in the membrane with emb...

متن کاملMolecular dynamics simulation of single asperity contact
We present a series of molecular dynamics simulations of single asperity contact and deformation that occurs as two rough surfaces are brought together, loaded and then separated. We monitor the force between the two surfaces, the total potential energy, the Q6 order parameter, the effective minimum contact radius and the conductance (using the modified Sharvin equation). The deformation is obs...

متن کاملSystem identification of a beam with frictional contact
The nonlinear system becomes an area with numerous investigations over the past decades. The conventional modal analysis could not be applied on nonlinear continuous system which makes it impossible to construct the reduced order models and obtain system response based on limited number of measurement points. Nonlinear normal modes provide a useful tool for extending modal analysis to nonlinea...
