Design of a Triple-Band Shared-Aperture Antenna With High Figures of Merit

This communication develops a triple-band shared-aperture antenna operating at X/K/Ka-band with high figures of merit such as aperture reuse efficiency and simple configuration to achieve gain. The proposed is implemented by integrating Fabry–Perot (FP) cavity X-band into dual-band reflectarray enabled frequency selective surfaces (FSSs). unit cells (UCs) form the phase-shifting for can offer partial reflectance/transmission abilities simultaneously, thereby enabling implementation an FP antenna. responses are highly independent X/K/Ka-band, which facilitates design optimization. For demonstration, prototype has been described, fabricated, measured. simulated results present 3 dB gain bandwidths 11.2% (8.4–9.4 GHz), 10.0% (24–26.6 13.3% (35–40 all experimentally verified. measured also peak 16.8 dBi 9.0 GHz, 23.8 26 26.7 38 GHz.
