Design Method for Flux-Concentrating Permanent-Magnet Traction Machine Based on Voltage-Parameter Map

A voltage-parameter map (VP-Map) is proposed for predicting the performance of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid EVs (HEVs), which varies with respect to parameters in a variable load flux-weakening range, determining design parameters. Through this, maximum torque that can be generated at speed, input current generation rated torque, whether vehicle operable light are predicted, suitable 120-kW class interior permanent-magnet (PM) synchronous motor HEVs, target this study, determined. flux-concentrating PM (FCPMSM) designed using desired depending on degree flux concentration. The validity VP-Map was verified by analyzing characteristics three types FCPMSMs different parameter combinations, an EV having high output, efficiency, high-power factor designed. Lastly, requirements were checked, analysis validated testing motor.
