چکیده

Abstract Joining technologies have a crucial role in the product development process, e.g. to achieve local part properties or functional integrations. This often requires multi-material joints, which are challenging for conventional joining processes. Therefore, innovative processes needed generate bonds between adhesion-incompatible material combinations, such as using pin-like structures vibration welding process. Investigations into this novel process provided initial findings; however, specific pin design is not possible at time. For reason, influence of pin-foot width two partners was analyzed numerically by simulation. The results simulation were validated experimental tests. investigations show, that model suitable predicting bond quality well fracture behavior joint based on structures. developed correlations material, structure, and resulting allow criteria be derived. These dimensioning ratio depending used combination. Thus, example, connection can selectively adjusted, strength maximally utilized.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Optimal Shape Design for a Cooling Pin Fin Connection Profil

A shape optimization problem of cooling fins for computer parts and integrated circuits is modeled and solved in this paper. The main purpose is to determine the shape of a two-dimensional pin fin, which leads to the maximum amount of removed heat. To do this, the shape optimization problem is defined as maximizing the norm of the Nusselt number distribution at the boundary of the pin fin's con...

Effect of Tool Shoulder and Pin Cone Angles in Friction Stir Welding using Non-circular Tool Pin

In friction stir welding frictional heat is generated by the rotating tool, sliding over the stationary plate along the weld centre. Tool being the only source of heat producing member, its geometrical design influences the heat generation rate. In this present work, effects of variation in tool shoulder and tool pin taper angles on thermal history during joining are analysed. Tools with triang...

Pin design for part feeding

We consider a sensorless approach to feeding parts on a conveyor belt using pins (rigid barriers) to topple parts into desired orientations. Given the n-sided 2D convex projection of an extruded polygonal part, its center of mass (COM), and coefficients of friction, we develop an O(n) algorithm to compute the toppling graph, a new data structure that represents the mechanics of toppling includi...

SEQUENTIAL PENALTY HANDLING TECHNIQUES FOR SIZING DESIGN OF PIN-JOINTED STRUCTURES BY OBSERVER-TEACHER-LEARNER-BASED OPTIMIZATION

Despite comprehensive literature works on developing fitness-based optimization algorithms, their performance is yet challenged by constraint handling in various engineering tasks. The present study, concerns the widely-used external penalty technique for sizing design of pin-jointed structures. Observer-teacher-learner-based optimization is employed here since previously addressed by a number ...
