Design and Simulation of a Reverse Flow Reactor for Catalytic Oxidation of Lean Benzene Emissions

Abstract This paper deals with reactor design, modeling, and simulation of a pilot-scale reverse flow operation used for catalytic oxidation lean benzene-air mixtures. The was designed conducting benzene adiabatic temperature rise less than 54°C. According to the rule thumb, this kind condition requires reaction be accomplished under operation. In some criteria were calculated such as Mears, Weisz-Prater Ergun’s model developed 1D, pseudo-homogeneous, involving mass energy balances. fixed bed consisted inert section, placed at outer part catalyst section. results indicated that switching time, inlet concentration heat extraction imposed an important influence on performance reactor. Under suitable operating conditions, system can achieve favorable running status, without extinction, operated auto-thermal, in fact, more thermal from section feasible extract. profile remained smooth continuous case desired extracting exchanger.
