Design and modelling of a two‐degrees‐of‐freedom dual‐rotor axial‐flux squirrel cage induction motor

A two-degrees-of-freedom (2DOF) dual-rotor axial-flux induction motor (2DOF-DRAFIM) is proposed with independent movement capability of rotors and its performance evaluated in detail. First, using the analytical equations, steady-state model presented electrical equivalent circuit extracted along an electromagnetic design algorithm for motor. In next step, two-dimensional three-dimensional finite element modelling (FEM), investigated. The results experimental measurements on manufactured prototype confirm validity theoretical simulations. structure provides some unique features. One fascinating behaviours 2DOF-DRAFIM that higher-speed rotor produces higher output torque lower-speed has lower torque. this regard, 2DOF can be considered a potential concept electric vehicles (EVs) without needing conventional mechanical differential.
