Design and fabrication of TiO2-based dye sensitized solar cells using plant-derived organic dyes

The utilization of solar energy, an abundant and renewable resource, shows great promise. Various technologies have been employed to capture this vast energy potential. In study, the effectiveness natural dye-sensitized cells (DSSCs) was explored through experimental computational methods. Organic dyes derived from specific plant species were examined, with a solvent mixture ethanol, methanol, tetrahydrofuran used for extraction. A UV–vis spectrophotometer utilized measure sensitizers’ optical characteristics. study density functional theory (DFT), implemented in Gaussian 09 W software, perform calculations. B3LYP method basis set 6-31G++(d,p) chosen optimizing geometries energetics dye molecules. DFT results indicated that molecules had bandgap range 2.16–2.38 eV. photochemical performance all four fabricated DSSC-based devices evaluated be between 0.33% 1.04%, Euryops pectinatus sensitizer demonstrated highest efficiency 1.04% among studied sensitizers.
