Delta-Alpha EEG pattern reflects the interoceptive focus effect on interpersonal motor synchronization

چکیده
Little is known about how the modulation of interoceptive focus impacts neural correlates high-level social processes, such as synchronization mechanisms. Therefore, current study aims to explore intraindividual electrophysiological (EEG) patterns induced by on breath when performing cognitive and motor tasks requiring interpersonal synchronization. A sample 28 healthy caucasian adults was recruited asked perform two during distinct conditions: while focusing or without breath. EEG frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha, beta band) were recorded from frontal, temporo-central, parieto-occipital regions interest. Significant results observed for delta alpha bands. Notably, higher mean values desynchronization in temporo-central area condition compared task. Taken together these could be interpreted considering functional meaning band relation Indeed, oscillations shape dynamics behaviors attenuation previously generation, observation, imagery movement considered reflect cortical activity action-perception coupling. Overall, research shows that an delta-alpha pattern emerges areas at intra-individual level, indicating attention visceral signals, particularly synchrony.

EEG alpha activity reflects motor preparation rather than the mode of action selection
Alpha-band activity (8-13 Hz) is not only suppressed by sensory stimulation and movements, but also modulated by attention, working memory and mental tasks, and could be sensitive to higher motor control functions. The aim of the present study was to examine alpha oscillatory activity during the preparation of simple left or right finger movements, contrasting the external and internal mode of ...
متن کاملInteroceptive Focus Shapes the Experience of Time
The perception of time is a fundamental part of human experience. Recent research suggests that the experience of time emerges from emotional and interoceptive (bodily) states as processed in the insular cortex. Whether there is an interaction between the conscious awareness of interoceptive states and time distortions induced by emotions has rarely been investigated so far. We aimed to address...
متن کاملLikability’s Effect on Interpersonal Motor Coordination: Exploring Natural Gaze Direction
Although existing studies indicate a positive effect of interpersonal motor coordination (IMC) on likability, no consensus has been reached as for the effect of likability back onto IMC. The present study specifically investigated the causal effect of likability on IMC and explored, by tracking the natural gaze direction, the possible underlying mechanisms. Twenty-two participants were engaged ...
متن کاملEEG theta synchronization conjoined with alpha desynchronization indicate intentional encoding.
The involvement of different oscillating neuronal systems activated during intentional learning was investigated by measuring ongoing EEG activity. In 17 subjects, the EEG was recorded while learning pairs of words and faces. Subjective task difficulty was rated and a control condition of mental relaxation was also run. Spontaneous EEG activity during epochs which subsequently resulted in effic...
متن کاملNeuronal Synchronization along the Dorsal Visual Pathway Reflects the Focus of Spatial Attention
Oscillatory neuronal synchronization, within and between cortical areas, may mediate the selection of attended visual stimuli. However, it remains unclear at and between which processing stages visuospatial attention modulates oscillatory synchronization in the human brain. We thus combined magnetoencephalography (MEG) in a spatially cued motion discrimination task with source-reconstruction te...
