Deixis Analysis on The Halsey’s Song Lyrics “Manic” Album

Deixis is important to help the listener or addressee distinguish between what speaker says and intended. It possible that might misinterpret a reference in vague utterance. The meaning of sentence utterance becomes understandable if knows who, when, where it spoken. In this study, researcher examines types deixis used Halsey's songwriting lyrics. study involves qualitative data analysis. are obtained through listening song lyrics, understanding looking for deixis, finally noting down data. After obtaining data, analyzed some ways; identifying Halsey’s lyrics “manic” album, describing words found concluding result showed there 130 deixis. They divided into 105 person 5 place 1 datum time 17 discourse 2 social lyric album. Person was investigated as most dominant type All had their meanings based on situations song.
