چکیده
Abstract A new method is presented using electrochemically generated ferrate to degrade the technically relevant bio‐based side‐stream products, lignin and lignosulfonate. An exclusive degradation vanillic acid found, which was previously a reported by‐product. As natural resource, can be utilized substitute fossil‐based chemicals in industry reduce greenhouse gas emissions positively impact climate change. Ferrate from grey cast iron sacrificial anodes 40 wt% NaOH with current efficiency of over 22% at density up 100 mA cm −2 . Vanillic obtained as sole product after optimizing reaction parameters, temperature, time, concentration for lignosulfonate via design experiments. result, yields 7.2 flavoring agent antioxidant are achieved. The two‐step provides an inexpensive path production on laboratory scale highly abundant side‐stream.

Degradation of vanillic acid and production of guaiacol by microorganisms isolated from cork samples.
The presence of guaiacol in cork stoppers is responsible for some cases of cork taint causing unpleasant alterations to wine. We have performed a characterization of the cork-associated microbiota by isolating 55 different microorganisms: eight yeast, 14 filamentous fungi or molds, 13 actinomycetes and 20 non-filamentous bacteria. A screening for degradation of vanillic acid and guaiacol produc...

This discussion paper is/has been under review for the journal Climate of the Past (CP). Please refer to the corresponding final paper in CP if available. Abstract Biomass burning generates a wide range of organic compounds that are transported via aerosols to the polar ice sheets. Vanillic acid is a product of conifer lignin combustion , which has previously been observed in laboratory and amb...
متن کاملRemoval of H2S and COD Using UV, Ferrate and UV/Ferrate from Municipal Wastewater
Background; The aim of this study is to compare UV, ferrate (VI) and UV/ferrate (VI) methods for removal of hydrogen sulfide and chemical oxygen demand (COD) from municipal wastewater under a continuous condition. Methods; The experiment was divided into three parts: 1) pollutants removal by using ferrate (VI) alone; 2) pollutants removal using UV alone; 3) pollutants removal using a combina...
متن کاملThe beneficial effect of vanillic acid on ulcerative colitis.
Vanillic acid, an oxidized form of vanillin, is a benzoic acid derivative used as a flavoring agent. The objective of this study was to determine whether vanillic acid has beneficial effects against dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis. Our results showed that vanillic acid reduced the severity of the clinical signs of DSS-induced colitis, including weight loss and shortening...
