Deep Minimum and a Vortex for Positronium Formation in Low-Energy Positron-Helium Collisions

چکیده

We find a zero in the positronium formation scattering amplitude and deep minimum logarithm of corresponding differential cross section for positron–helium collisions an energy just above threshold. Corresponding to zero, there is vortex extended velocity field that associated with this when one treats both magnitude momentum incident positron angle scattered as independent variables. Using complex Kohn variational method, we determine accurately two-channel K-matrices Ore gap. fit these using polynomials Watanabe Greene’s multichannel effective range theory taking into account explicitly polarization potential Ps-He+ channel. fitted show it rotates anticlockwise around amplitude. valley includes also forward direction.

Positronium formation in positron-Li and positron-Na collisions at low energies

We present the positronium formation cross sections for a positron colliding with lithium and sodium for the collision energies from 0.01 eV up to 20 eV by the hyperspherical close-coupling method. For Li, our results agree with the experimental data and with other calculations. Our results for Na remain in agreement with previous close-coupling calculations, but do not support the latest exper...

Nuclear-Charge Screening in Positronium Formation from Helium Atoms

An analytical treatment of the electron screening effect within an active-electron model is given for positronium formation from helium atoms. A first-order distorted wave approximation with correct boundary conditions is applied to evaluate the transition amplitude. In the range of impact energy for which the introduced perturbative approach is valid, both the total and differential cross sect...

Low energy positron scattering from helium

Positron scattering from helium has been historically limited to experiments with energy resolution of 0.5 eV or worse. A new apparatus has been developed that allows the investigation of scattering processes with an energy resolution as good as 30 meV, allowing new experimental insight into positron helium interactions. High resolution measurements of low energy scattering from helium will be ...

Low energy positron interactions with uracil--total scattering, positronium formation, and differential elastic scattering cross sections.

Measurements of the grand total and total positronium formation cross sections for positron scattering from uracil have been performed for energies between 1 and 180 eV, using a trap-based beam apparatus. Angular, quasi-elastic differential cross section measurements at 1, 3, 5, 10, and 20 eV are also presented and discussed. These measurements are compared to existing experimental results and ...
