چکیده
Introduction. In children and growing adolescents, ankylotic resorption (i.e., progressive replacement resorption) of a permanent tooth is serious complication. An ankylosed root continuously resorbed replaced with bone; normal growth alveolar bone disturbed infraposition the dental crown progresses. This article aims to present decoronation as very good treatment option for incisors diagnosed in adolescents. Case outline. A 9.5-year-old boy was referred non-vital both upper central due trauma. left one, which had been re-implanted 90 minutes after avulsion, progression clinical radiographic pathological signs observed over months. To prevent local arrest ridge tilting adjacent teeth, we decoronated tooth. For aesthetic functional rehabilitation adhesive bonding his performed. Conclusion. individuals resorption, dentist should be aware an effective predictable outcome.

Replacement resorption rate is a variable process, and is dependent on age, basal metabolic rate, extra-alveolar time, treatment prior to replantation, amount of root dentin, severity of trauma, and extent of periodontal ligament necrosis. In patients 7-16 years old a tooth is lost 3-7 years after the onset of root resorption. The complications that may develop as a consequence of ankylosis of ...

A 12-year-old patient sustained avulsions of both permanent maxillary central incisors. Subsequently, both teeth developed replacement resorption. The left incisor was extracted alio loco. The right incisor was treated by decoronation (removal of crown and pulp, but preservation of the root substance). Comparison of both sites demonstrated complete preservation of the height and width of the al...
متن کاملDecoronation: how, why, and when?
Decoronation is a surgical method for treating ankylosed incisors in children and adolescents. The crown and root filling are removed, leaving the root in situ to be resorbed and covered with a mucoperiosteal flap. Early loss of a permanent tooth leads to loss of alveolar bone, especially in buccopalatal width. Decoronation preserves not only the width of the ridge but also the vertical height.

Decoronation of ankylosed teeth in infraposition was introduced in 1984 by Malmgren and co-workers (1). This method is used all over the world today. It has been clinically shown that the procedure preserves the alveolar width and rebuilds lost vertical bone of the alveolar ridge in growing individuals. The biological explanation is that the decoronated root serves as a matrix for new bone deve...
