Decentralized Cooperative Active Power Control for Small-Scale Grids with High Renewable Penetration through VSC-HVDC

Rising renewable penetration has accelerated the volatility and instability of power grid. A small-scale grid is especially vulnerable. Therefore, flexibility stability enhancement are required for grids. The interconnection with large-scale through voltage sourced converter-high direct current (VSC-HVDC) can be a solution to aforementioned problems. VSC-HVDC deliver bidirectionally change direction in short time. Hereby, cooperative operation distributed generations (DG) system proposed this paper. will take role main source It determines frequency based on its output power. DGs adjust their according frequency, then balance between demand supply maintained. To verify it, PSCAD/EMTDC simulation was conducted using actual data from Jeju Island, including transmission lines, loads, climate. Consequently, by method, RE share improved operated stably even though fault situations.
