Damage Identification Based on the Nodal Line Active Modulation Method

A novel vibration-based method (VBM) for damage identification, nodal line active modulation (NLAM), is proposed in this study. Unlike traditional VBMs, the NLAM can identify by taking advantage of effect, which that when a defect located on lines, dynamic responses structure remain nearly unchanged. The basic idea introduced through simply supported beam. In numerical study, we have discussed detection steps detail detecting cleft an aluminum plate. experimental research, piezoelectric transducers work as both actuators and sensors added mass damaged carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminates, while scanning laser Doppler vibrometer employed measuring full-field response. visualized from highlighted lines modulated operational deflection shapes. present investigation provides new VBM detection, will practical applications structural health monitoring.
