چکیده
Objective: To evaluate the cytotoxicity and antibacterial effect of bleached turmeric hydro-alcoholic extractcompared to sodium hypochlorite as an endodontic irrigant. Material Methods: Cytotoxicity was evaluatedon human skin fibroblasts using MTT assay. The irrigants were tested at 1, 5- 15-minutes time intervals. Aftercontact time, solution added well plates incubated. After incubation period, optical densitywas read correlated with cell viability percent. Antibacterial efficiency evaluated direct contact test. Each irrigant fresh Enterococcus faecalis suspension brain heart infusion media thenincubated for 48 hours. density readings obtained by ELISA readerat 620 nm. Results: Results test revealed that extract had significant higher cellviability percent than Sodium (NaOCl) all intervals (p<0.001). However, in interventiongroup, significantly decreased over time. showed bacterial inhibitionby both groups non-significant difference between two (p<0.05). Conclusion: Bleachedturmeric can represent herbal alternative avoid undesirabletoxic effects NaOCl due its less prominent against faecalis. KEYWORDSAntibacterial effect; Bleached turmeric; Cytotoxicity; Endodontic irrigantion; hypochlorite.
