Cyber gaming addiction and impulsivity in adolescents

Introduction The relationship between cyber video game addiction and impulsivity is controversial. Some studies have shown a significant link, others found no association the two behaviours. Objectives To study in adolescents with problematic use of internet games. Methods This was cross-sectional, descriptive analytical study, conducted among sample randomly collected 6 schools region Sfax-Tunisia, during month February 2022. rate to games assessed by 20-item “Internet Gaming Disorder-20” (IGD-20) scale 30-item “Barratt Impulsivity Scale” (BIS-11). Both scales are validated Arabic. Results involved 360 secondary school students, mean age 16.62 +/- 0.822 years. sex ratio 1.09. A gaming 4.7% cases. Similarly, impulse control disorder noted 23.6% adolescents. Problematic significantly related motor (p=0.025). There cognitive or non-planning impulsivity. Conclusions According results, impulsiveness factor consider for understanding development Thus, should be taken into account explain behaviour as well design preventive treatment interventions.
