چکیده

The current status of whiting (Merlangius merlangus Linnaeus, 1758) populations in the Sea Marmara (Turkey) was evaluated by estimating growth and mortality rates this study. overall sex ratio (M:F) calculated as 1:1.36. b value LWR computed 2.8904 for both groups, M. showed a negative allometric type Pauly's t-test result. age individuals population ranged from I to VI. parameters were estimated L∞ = 35.74 cm, k 0.124 yr-1, t0 -1.338 years all individuals. Total (Z), natural (M), fishing (F) 1.35 0.34 1.01 respectively. Phi-prime index (φ′) exploitation rate (E) 2.20 0.75 yr-1. According results, it is obvious that stocks are currently used at high capacity (E yr-1). impact over-fishing can have increasingly detrimental effects on size population. Fisheries management practices should be regulated taking into account ecosystem change, fleet, unreported catch data. In addition, temporal or spatial bans applied increasing selectivity gear.

In vivo red blood cell sickling and mechanism of recovery in whiting, Merlangius merlangus.

Haemoglobin concentrations in vertebrate red blood cells are so high that in human sickle cell disease a single surface amino acid mutation can result in formation of large insoluble haemoglobin aggregates at low oxygen levels, causing peculiar cell deformations or 'sickling'. This may cause vascular occlusion and thereby severe pain, organ failure and death. Here, using light and transmission ...
