Curcumin suppresses oxidative stress via regulation of ROS/NF-κB signaling pathway to protect retinal vascular endothelial cell in diabetic retinopathy

BackgroundThe retinal vascular endothelial cells can be damaged by oxidative stress even in the early stage of diabetic retinopathy (DR). This study aimed to investigate protective effect curcumin on rat (RRVECs) high glucose circumstance.ObjectiveThe cultured RRVECs were identified and characterized both vWF CD31 immunofluorescence expression. The activation ROS/NF-κB signal pathway was examined electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA), immunohistochemistry Western blot; apoptosis tested flow cytometry.ResultsWe found that reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) relieved exposed cytometry. It revealed increased activity NF-κB phosphorylated induced concentration significantly suppressed curcumin.ConclusionWe concluded could suppress via regulation protect DR.
