چکیده
The response of marine ecosystems to rapid climate changes has been well recognized but not studied extensively. Benthic microalgae, in contrast the phytoplankton that is able be transported by currents, have limited dispersal ability and thus are a better ecological indicator changes. Here we performed sampling Yellow Sea, East China Sea South established twenty-six strains benthic Prorocentrum for detailed morphological molecular examinations. Five species, including P. concavum, fukuyoi, mexicanum, tsawwassenense, cf. sculptile, were identified. Both concavum fukuyoi displayed marked intraspecific divergences large subunit (LSU) ribosomal RNA gene sequences, corresponding their geographical origins. In contrast, mexicanum shared identical LSU sequence. tsawwassenense sculptile suitable indicators as they rarely observed. recommended either it present across region. advantages Western Pacific comprise several ribotypes with differentiated biogeography. Toxin analysis was also on all five species except liquid chromatography coupled tandem mass spectrometry, okadaic acid detectable.

A new benthic dinoflagellate species, Prorocentrum bimaculatum sp. nov., is studied from Kuwait's marine sediments, based on detailed morphological and molecular data. Cells are large, oblong oval in shape. They are 49.9-55.3 μm long and 38.4-43.2 μm wide. The ornamentation of this new species is peculiar, and characterized by smooth valves with large pores (0.32-0.50 μm) scattered on their sur...

In this study, inter- and intraspecific genetic diversity within the marine harmful dinoflagellate genus Coolia Meunier was evaluated using isolates obtained from the tropics to subtropics in both Pacific and Atlantic Ocean basins. The aim was to assess the phylogeographic history of the genus and to clarify the validity of established species including Coolia malayensis. Phylogenetic analysis ...
متن کاملEcological partitioning among parapatric cryptic species.
Geographic range differences among species may result from differences in their physiological tolerances. In the intertidal zone, marine and terrestrial environments intersect to create a unique habitat, across which physiological tolerance strongly influences range. Traits to cope with environmental extremes are particularly important here because many species live near their physiological lim...
متن کاملEarly events in speciation: Cryptic species of Drosophila aldrichi
Understanding the earliest events in speciation remains a major challenge in evolutionary biology. Thus identifying species whose populations are beginning to diverge can provide useful systems to study the process of speciation. Drosophila aldrichi, a cactophilic fruit fly species with a broad distribution in North America, has long been assumed to be a single species owing to its morphologica...

Despite extensive revisions over recent decades, the taxonomy of benthic octopuses (Family Octopodidae) remains in a considerable flux. Among groups of unresolved status is a species complex of morphologically similar shallow-water octopods from subtropical Australasia, including: Allopatric populations of Octopus tetricus on the eastern and western coasts of Australia, of which the Western Aus...
