چکیده

Abstract The Southern Granulite Terrain (SGT) is a large tract of exposed Archean continental crust, divided into the Madurai Block (MB), Trivandrum (TB), and Nagercoil (NB). These crustal domains are linked with NW-SE trending Achankovil Shear Zone (AKSZ). We combine gravity magnetic data previously published ground observations geochronological to re-evaluate architecture, evolution AKSZ, possible extension AKSZ Madagascar. Analyses indicate that long wavelength trends anomalies originate at ~20 km depth different SGT blocks. corroborated as well computed gradient anomalies. presence khondalite outcrops in implies high magnetization crust main source positive Such advocate preserves remanent blocks South India, part due variation thermal geochemical processes. TB, MB exhibit contrasting signatures. joint modeling results reveal three-layered configuration varying Moho ranging from 41 34 NE SW, respectively. It also noted narrow deep structure near Western Ghats Escarpment while it wide shallow far-east, which late geological event.

Crustal and Upper Mantle Density Structure Beneath the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Surrounding Areas Derived from EGM2008 Geoid Anomalies

As the most active plateau on the Earth, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (TP) has a complex crust–mantle structure. Knowledge of the distribution of such a structure provides information for understanding the underlying geodynamic processes. We obtain a three-dimensional model of the density of the crust and the upper mantle beneath the TP and surrounding areas from height anomalies using the Earth G...

Crustal Structure from Waveform Inverstion of Shear-coupled Pl

One strategy for discriminating between explosions and natural events depends on accurate determinations of event locations, including focal depths. If a seismic event could be reliably determined to have a focal depth greater than a few kilometers, one could be confident that the event is not an explosion. But to determine focal depths accurately, one must first have a fairly accurate model of...

Whole mantle shear structure beneath the East Pacific Rise

[1] We model broadband seismograms containing triplicated S, S, and S along with ScS to produce a pure path one-dimensional model extending from the crust to the core-mantle boundary beneath the East Pacific Rise. We simultaneously model all body wave shapes and amplitudes, thereby eliminating depth-velocity ambiguities. The data consist of western North American broadband recordings of East Pa...
