Critical nitrogen dilution curve and dry matter production parameters for several Mediterranean vegetables

چکیده
Inadequate nitrogen fertilizing practices lead to low uptake efficiency (NUE), which increases water NO3− pollution, as well N2O emissions the atmosphere. In order increase NUE and decrease N losses from soil-plant system, accurate data about optimum crop concentrations dry matter production throughout growing season are still needed for many vegetables typically grown under Mediterranean climate. For this reason, several fertilization trials were set up globe artichoke, carrot, cauliflower, chard, chinese cabbage, early potato, leek, lettuce, onion, red romanesco, spinach, semiarid conditions of Valencian Community (Eastern Spain) during years. The fresh weight (W), concentration in (%N) both marketable non-marketable parts, was measured between 3 7 times their respective seasons. a b coefficients average dilution curve (%N = W − b), all %N used, critical (%Nc Wc−b), only minimun maximum used if available, addition dry/fresh yield ratio (DM) harvest index (HI), calculated these crops. No significant differences observed work. Interestingly, curves differed ones found literature with exception those obtained similar cultivars, e.g., potatoes, climatic conditions, i.e., Mediterranean. Besides, there neither DM HI among treatments. Therefore, due absence changes different supplies, parameters estimated on basis whole dataset, regardless input. use presented work should contribute better fit fertilizer additions demands mainly, by through simulation models. horticulture inland sea waters environments, atmosphere decrease.

متن کاملA New Curve of Critical Nitrogen Concentration Based on Spike Dry Matter for Winter Wheat in Eastern China
Diagnosing the status of crop nitrogen (N) helps to optimize crop yield, improve N use efficiency, and reduce the risk of environmental pollution. The objectives of the present study were to develop a critical N (Nc) dilution curve for winter wheat (based on spike dry matter [SDM] during the reproductive growth period), to compare this curve with the existing Nc dilution curve (based on plant d...

متن کاملDevelopment of a Critical Nitrogen Dilution Curve of Double Cropping Rice in South China
The concept of critical nitrogen (Nc) concentration can be implemented to diagnose in-season plant nitrogen (N) status for optimizing N fertilizer management. The Nc dilution curves have been established for rice (Oryza sativa L.) grown in different climatic regions, yet no attempt has been made to develop the Nc dilution curve for double cropping rice regions. This study was undertaken to deve...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Critical Nitrogen Dilution Curve Based on Leaf Area Duration in Wheat
Precise quantification of plant nitrogen (N) nutrition status is essential for crop N management. The concept of critical N concentration (Nc) has been widely used for assessment of plant N status. This study aimed to develop a new winter wheat Nc dilution curve based on leaf area duration (LAD). Four field experiments were performed on different cultivars with different N fertilization modes i...
