COVID-19 social distancing measures and informal urban settlements

چکیده

To slow down the community transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), virus that causes disease 2019 (COVID-19), context-appropriate measures are vital. The first COVID-19 cases in Kenya, Uganda and United Republic Tanzania were reported March 2020. All three countries have introduced to spread virus, such as encouraging washing and/or sanitizing hands frequently, staying at home, practising physical distancing when outside home partial lockdowns. Most these prevention replicate those from high-income implementation has not been without added challenges. blanket transfer low-income is problematic, especially urban informal settlements eastern Africa, due major contextual differences. Here we draw on examples East African illustrate challenges individuals families face adopting SARS-CoV-2.
