COVID-19 in systemic lupus erythematosus: A pooled analysis and systematic review of case reports and series

Objective In the recent months, there have been several case reports and series on COVID-19 in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE). We conducted a pooled analysis systematic review to summarise findings of these articles. Besides, we aimed determine predictors severe infection SLE by comparing mild moderate cases critical ones. Method All pertaining were retrieved from Pubmed, Wiley Online Library, Springer Link, Science Direct Web databases using ‘lupus’, ‘systemic erythematosus’, ‘coronavirus’, ‘SARS-CoV-2’, ‘SLE’ “Covid-19” as keywords. The following data extracted selected articles: country, age patient characteristics such disease duration, organ or system involved, baseline medications severity infection. Data articles utilised perform analysis. Results A total 24 48 met eligibility criteria. median at diagnosis was 41 years (IQR: 11–66 years). duration prior 9 0–30 22 (45.83%) had COVID-19. This did not demonstrate any difference between 2 groups. Patients nephritis significantly more prone develop ( p = 0 .036) an odds ratio 5.40 (95% confidence interval 1.120–26.045). Conclusion found that only predictor SLE.
