Coupled layer construction for synthetic Hall effects in driven systems

چکیده
Quasiperiodically driven fermionic systems can support topological phases not realized in equilibrium. The fermions are localized the bulk, but quantized energy currents at edge. These were discovered through an abstract classification, and few microscopic models exist. We develop a coupled layer construction for tight-binding of these $d\ensuremath{\in}{1,2}$ spatial dimensions, with any number incommensurate drive frequencies $D$. exhibit responses associated synthetic two- four-dimensional quantum Hall effects steady state. A numerical study phase diagram $(d+D)=(1+2)$ shows (i) robust trivial separated by sharp transition, (ii) charge diffusion half-integer current between drives (iii) long-lived which remains present when weak interactions introduced.

Notes on Infinite Layer Quantum Hall Systems
We study the fractional quantum Hall effect in three dimensional systems consisting of infinitely many stacked two dimensional electron gases placed in transverse magnetic fields. This limit introduces new features into the bulk physics such as quasiparticles with non-trivial internal structure, irrational braiding phases, and the necessity of a boundary hierarchy construction for interlayer co...
متن کاملUniversality in Quantum Hall Systems: Coset Construction of Incompressible States
Incompressible Quantum Hall fluids (QHF’s) can be described in the scaling limit by three-dimensional topological field theories. Thanks to the correspondence between threedimensional topological field theories and two dimensional chiral conformal field theories (CCFT’s), we propose to study QHF’s from the point of view of CCFT’s. We derive consistency conditions and stability criteria for thos...
متن کاملIncommensurate ground state of double-layer quantum Hall systems
Double-layer quantum Hall systems possess interlayer phase coherence at sufficiently small layer separations, even without interlayer tunneling. When interlayer tunneling is present, application of a sufficiently strong in-plane magnetic field B i.Bc drives a commensurate-incommensurate ~CI! transition to an incommensurate soliton-lattice ~SL! state. We calculate the Hartree-Fock ground-state e...

Laterally coupled and field-induced quantum Hall systems
A quantum Hall system which is divided into two laterally coupled subsystems by means of a tunneling barrier exhibits a complex Landau level dispersion. Magnetotunneling spectroscopy is employed to investigate the small energy gaps which separate subsequent Landau bands. The control on the Fermi level permits to trace the anticrossings for varying magnetic fields. The band structure calculation...
