Corrosion-Resistant Coating Based on High-Entropy Alloys

چکیده

Metal corrosion leads to serious resource waste and economic losses, in severe cases, it can result catastrophic safety incidents. As a result, proper coatings are often employed separate metal alloys from the ambient environment thus prevent or at least slow down corrosion. Among various materials, high-entropy alloy (HEA coating) have recently received lot of attention due their unique entropy-stabilized structure, superior physical chemical properties, excellent resistance. To address recent developments remaining issues HEA coatings, this paper reviews primary fabrication methods elemental compositions highlights effects on resistance properties. It is found that FeCoCrNi-based refractory prepared by laser/plasma cladding method typically show better also briefly discusses future directions toward high-performing corrosion-resistant based design.

CORROSION RESISTANT SOL–GEL COATING ON 2024-T3 ALUMINUM

The inherent reactivity of the Al–Cu alloys is such that their use for structural, marine, and aerospace components and structures would not be possible without prior application of a corrosion resistance system. Historically these corrosion resistance coatings were based on the use of chemicals containing Cr (VI) compounds. Silane coatings are of increasing interest in industry due to th...

Alloying and Processing Effects on the Aqueous Corrosion Behavior of High-Entropy Alloys

The effects of metallurgical factors on the aqueous corrosion behavior of highentropy alloys (HEAs) are reviewed in this article. Alloying (e.g., Al and Cu) and processing (e.g., heat treatments) effects on the aqueous corrosion behavior of HEAs, including passive film formation, galvanic corrosion, and pitting corrosion, are discussed in detail. Corrosion rates of HEAs are calculated using ele...

Multicomponent and High Entropy Alloys

This paper describes some underlying principles of multicomponent and high entropy alloys, and gives some examples of these materials. Different types of multicomponent alloy and different methods of accessing multicomponent phase space are discussed. The alloys were manufactured by conventional and high speed solidification techniques, and their macroscopic, microscopic and nanoscale structure...

Microstructures, Hardness and Corrosion Behaviors of FeCoNiNb0.5Mo0.5 and FeCoNiNb High-Entropy Alloys

This study investigates the effects of niobium and molybdenum on FeCoNi alloy, including on the microstructures and hardness of FeCoNiNb0.5Mo0.5 and FeCoNiNb alloys, and the polarization behaviors of these alloys in 1 M sulfuric acid and 1 M sodium chloride solutions. The results in this study indicate that both FeCoNiNb0.5Mo0.5 and FeCoNiNb alloys had a dual-phased dendritic microstructure; al...

High Strength Corrosion Resistant Metals

There are a number of ways to improve the corrosion and abrasion resistance of metals, including alloying, anodizing, nitriding and application of protective thin films. Alloying involves generating a binary phase diagram to determine the optimum composition and temperature dependence. For example, copper alloys known as “bronzes” offer high strength, abrasion resistance and high temperature co...
