Corrosion Resistance and Tribological Properties of Laser Cladding Layer of H13 Die Steel Strengthened by Ultrasonic Rolling

Abstract Laser cladding is a new surface repair method that can improve the wear and corrosion resistance of substrate surfaces. However, layer typically exhibits rough surface, high hardness large residual tensile stress, thus requires further machining finishing. Ultrasonic rolling (U-rolling) highly efficient finishing strengthening process combines ultrasonic technology with traditional (T-rolling). In this study, an iron-based alloy was coated onto H13 die steel using laser cladding, polished U-rolling. The effects U-rolling on quality, friction properties laser-cladding were investigated compared those obtained by T-rolling. roughness U-rolled sample only 1/4 T-rolled sample. compressive stress after higher than Similarly, changed roughness, grain size, material affected layer. coefficient rate lower surface. addition, tribological found to be related direction.
