Corrosion Fatigue Analysis in Power Steam Turbine Blade

نویسندگان

چکیده

The corrosion fatigue behavior of a martensitic stainless steel AISI 410 with 12% Cr, used in the fabrication steam turbine blades at low pressure (L-P), was studied using electrochemical noise technique (EN) under mechanical (immersion and aired) conditions. tests were done simulated environment four levels stress (Δσ) 3 wt.% NaCl solution 90 °C. specimens underwent pitting when exposed to corrosive environment; afterwards, such pits generated strength sites over metallic surface, facilitating initiation propagation cracks, which already enhanced by applied cyclic loads. From scanning electron microscope (SEM) images, it possible observe localized plastic deformation. In instances, damage caused microplasticity (μ), i.e., shear strength, resulting from breakdown passive layer that subjected load, led significant increment velocity crack propagation, therefore, decrement useful life material. obtained results show resistance limit medium lower than observed aerated conditions due sum effects corrosion.

Vibration analysis of a steam turbine blade

ABSTRACT Blade failure is a common problem of a steam turbine and it’s failure in-service results in safety risks, repair cost and non operational revenue losses. Thus, the reliability of these blades is very important for the successful operation of a steam turbine. Dynamic analysis of a steam turbine blade in computational environment is carried out in the present work. In order to gain physi...

3 - D analysis of fatigue crack behaviour in a shot peened steam turbine blade material

Serial mechanical sectioning and high resolution X-ray tomography have been used to study the three-dimensional morphology of small fatigue cracks growing in a 12 Cr tempered martensitic steam turbine blade material. A range of surface conditions has been studied, namely polished and shot peened (with varying levels of intensity). In the polished (unpeened) condition, inclusions (alumina and ma...
