Corrosion behavior of hydroxyapatite coated AZ31 and AZ91 Mg alloys by electrostatic spray coating

Abstract Magnesium and its alloys are excellent implant material candidates with their biodegradable structure mechanical properties close to human bone. In order provide the desired strength in applications, corrosion resistance of materials is expected be high. this study, improve AZ31 AZ91 magnesium alloys, an electrostatic hydroxyapatite coating process was applied, optimum conditions were determined. The samples structurally characterized by scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy stereo microscopy methods, behavior determined weight loss method. As a result coating, increased up 250 %.
