Correspondence Principle for Many-Body Scars in Ultracold Rydberg Atoms

چکیده

The theory of quantum scarring -- a remarkable violation unique ergodicity rests on two complementary pillars: the existence unstable classical periodic orbits and so-called quasimodes, i.e., non-ergodic states that strongly overlap with small number system's eigenstates. Recently, interest in scars has been revived many-body setting Rydberg atom chains. While previous theoretical works have identified for such systems using time-dependent variational principle (TDVP), link between quasimodes missing. Here we provide conceptually simple analytic construction non-integrable model, prove they arise from "requantisation" previously established when fluctuations are restored to all orders. Our results shed light TDVP system simultaneously playing role both mean-field approximation limit, thus allowing us firm up analogy eigenstate chains single-particle systems.

Ultracold atoms for simulation of many body quantum systems

Feynman famously proposed simulating quantum physics using other, better controlled, quantum systems. This vision is now a reality within the realm of ultracold atomic physics. We discuss how these systems can be used to simulate many body physics, concentrating the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in 2D physics and the role of disorder.

Ultracold atoms in optical lattices: tunable quantum many-body systems

Cold atoms in optical lattices offer an exciting new laboratory where quantum many-body phenomena can be realized in a highly controlled way. They can even serve as quantum simulators for notoriously difficult problems like high-temperature superconductivity. This review is focussed on the recent developments and new results in multi-component systems. Fermionic atoms with SU(N) symmetry have e...

Probing many-body states of ultracold atoms via noise correlations

We propose to utilize density-density correlations in the image of an expanding gas cloud to probe complex many-body states of trapped ultracold atoms. In particular, we show how this technique can be used to detect superfluidity of fermionic gases and to study spin correlations of multicomponent atoms in optical lattices. The feasibility of the method is investigated by analysis of the relevan...

Four-wave mixing in ultracold atoms using intermediate Rydberg states

Ultracold Rb atoms were used to demonstrate nondegenerate four-wave mixing through a Rydberg state. Continuous 5S-5P-nD two-photon excitation to the Rydberg state was combined with an nD-6P tuned laser in a phase-matched geometry. The angular dependence, spatial profile, and dependence on detuning were investigated, showing good agreement with theory. Under optimum conditions 50% of the radiati...
