Correlation of Estimated Creatinine Clearance and Glomerular Filtration Rate in Very Elderly Patients and Antibiotic Prescribing Errors: Cohort Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Introduction: Determination of renal function is particularly important when prescribing antibiotics to elderly patients. This study aims determine the correlation between estimated creatinine clearance and glomerular filtration rate, for a hospitalized population very patients, audit antibiotic errors.Material Methods: Retrospective cohort all patients ? 80 years with antibiotic. Creatinine was calculated using Cockcroft-Gault equation rate by Modification Diet in Renal Disease Study Chronic Kidney Epidemiology Collaboration equations. Dosing errors were determined through adjustment daily define dose function. Results: The included 589 r = 0.98 0.96 minimum serum creatinine, 0.97 0.93 maximum creatinine. Based on Cockcroft-Gault, there defined 45% 52% day. There discrepancy recording 14% 16% compared Collaboration.Discussion: good or Collaboration. Regardless used estimate high dosing documented this population. Conclusion: supports maintenance drug population. Further studies are needed investigate underlying causes errors.

Effect of alcohol consumption on estimated glomerular filtration rate and creatinine clearance rate.

BACKGROUND Moderate alcohol consumption is widely recognized as beneficial in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, yet the renal effects of alcohol intake are still controversial. The present study is designed to investigate the influence of alcohol consumption on calculated creatinine clearance rate (CCr) and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in a Southern Taiwan Pai-Wan aboriginal communi...

Analgesia dose prescribing and estimated glomerular filtration rate decline: a general practice database linkage cohort study

OBJECTIVE We aimed to quantify the short-term effect of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin and paracetamol analgesia dose prescribing on estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decline in the general practice population. DESIGN A population-based longitudinal clinical data linkage cohort study. SETTING Two large general practices in North Staffordshire, UK. PARTIC...

Creatinine Clearance and Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate--When are they Interchangeable.

Study goal was to examine which of glomerular rate equations is most suitable for prediction of creatinine clearance (CrCl). Using a retrospective review of data from 500 hospital patients we calculated glomerular filtration rate according to Cockcroft-Gault equation (C-G), Modification of Diet in Renal Disease Study equation (MDRD) and Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration equation...

Glomerular filtration rate determination by creatinine and cystatin-C in patients with acute pyelonephritis

Background: Measurement of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and monitoring of it in any patient on nephrotoxic drugs is very important. Recently, cystatin C (cys-C) has been introduced as a better marker for determining and monitoring renal function than creatinine especially in a mild decrease of GFR. This study was done to assess the change of GFR measurement based on serum Cys-C and creatini...

Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate —A More Stable Indicator than Creatinine Clearance in Peritoneal Dialysis Practice

OBJECTIVE The usefulness of estimated glomerular filtration rate may not be restricted to pre-dialysis patients, since we reported that estimated glomerular filtration rate was well correlated with measured total creatinine clearance in peritoneal dialysis patients. To clarify the clinical usefulness of estimated glomerular filtration rate as a parameter for peritoneal dialysis adequacy, we ret...
