Correlation Between Ne and Te Around 14:00 LT in the Topside Ionosphere Observed by CSES, Swarm and CHAMP Satellites

In this study, we have performed a detailed analysis for the correlation between electron density ( Ne ) and temperature Te at topside ionosphere. situ measurements from four satellites been utilized, including China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES), Swarm A B, as well earlier Challenging Minisatellite Payload (CHAMP) satellite. To make fair comparison, only simultaneous observations CSES A/B considered; while CHAMP, it doesn’t overlaps with period, during similar low solar activity years are considered. Our study has confined to dayside around 14:00 local time (LT), due fixed LT coverage of CSES. Observations show generally consistent relationship When is low, negative correlated , slop relation becomes shallower or even reverses positive after exceeds certain threshold. The slope Ne/Te shows also dependence on season magnetic latitude (MLat), ionospheric themselves seasonal MLat dependent. Interestingly, find two abnormal features measurements: 1) when lower than 1×10 11 m −3 sometimes very scatter middle latitudes; 2) larger grouped into branches equatorial latitudes. Further reveals that flags used in Level-1 B plasma product cannot distinguish implying further efforts needed data calibration.
