Correlates of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Types in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

[Objective] Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common female health condition caused by hormonal imbalance due to the ovaries producing excess male hormones, is also considered chronic endocrine-metabolic syndrome. According traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, multiple factors including insufficiency of kidney and liver as well phlegm dampness may result in PCOS. This study aimed investigate distribution pattern TCM types patients with PCOS, determine glucose metabolism status among these patients. [Methods] A total 60 diagnosed PCOS our center were enrolled this study. These classified into three groups based on their types, syndrome, stagnation uniformly formulated basic information sheet was collected, all them underwent tolerance test (OGTT). The correlations body mass index (BMI), waist hip ratio (WHR), different syndromes compared. [Results] type (n=32) most accounting for 53.33%, followed (n=18; 30%) (n=10; 16.67%). BMI WHR higher than those (P<0.01). There no significant difference incidence abnormal (IFG/IGT/diabetes) (P>0.05). [Conclusions] main which linked obesity abdominal obesity.
