Corporate environmentalism and international trade: Evidence from industry‐level data

We explore the role of ISO 14001 certification in stimulating increased exports for certified firms. The rationale study is that conveys an important market signal firm's production process adheres to internationally accepted standards environmental quality. That is, perceived credibility lowers informational barriers about attributes products, especially foreign markets, boosting exports. put this proposition empirical test using gravity trade model and a panel South Korean manufacturing industries exporting 176 countries over 1988–2015 period. Our results show generates robust positive push effect further find varies based on level economic development destination market, with more pronounced impact high-income than middle lower income countries.
