Bounding differences in Jager Pairs

Symmetrical subdivisions in the space of Jager Pairs for continued fractions-like expansions will provide us with bounds on their difference. Results will also apply to the classical regular and backwards continued fractions expansions, which are realized as special cases.

Comments on “Episodes of relative global warming, by de Jager en Duhau”

De Jager and Duhau (2009 [dJ-D]) derived a statistical relation between solar magnetic activity and terrestrial Northern Hemisphere (NH) temperatures in the period 1600 – 1995. Surprisingly, they concluded that the late 20 century episode of global warming was similar to earlier episodes of global warming, the difference between observations and their fit being less than about 0.2 °C. On repeat...

The Slippery Road to Sliding Control: Conventional versus Dynamical Sliding Mode Control Marc Van De Wal, Bram De Jager* and Frans Veldpaus

Theory and design of a conventional sliding mode controller (CSMC) and a dynamical sliding mode controller (DSMC) are discussed and compared. The controllers are applicable to uncertain nonlinear MIMO systems. Emphasis is put on handling of unmodelled dynamics, tuning of controller parameters, suppression of chattering, and robust tracking performance. Experiments are performed with a mechanica...
