چکیده
Background: The purposes of this pilot retrospective observational cohort study are to determine: 1) the safety and efficacy corneal photovitrification (CPV), a laser procedure, for vision improvement in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) other retinal disorders involving central loss, 2) correlation between post-treatment (post-treatment (Tx)) best-corrected distance visual acuity (BCDVA) pre-Tx potential (PVA). Methods: BCDVA measurements using ETDRS charts PVA Gonzalez-Markowitz were analyzed 72 eyes that received single CPV treatment. Results: Safety - No clinically significant complications or serious adverse events occurred. Efficacy – Mean improved significantly from 20/303 (1.18 log minimum angle resolution (logMAR), 26 letters) at 20/208 (1.02 logMAR, 34 1m post-Tx (p = 0.000001) 57 eyes, improving 20/198 (1.00 35 letters; 11.6 mean letters gained) 12m 0.0009) 29 eyes. gains correlated well improvements 1m, 3m, 6m post-Tx. Conclusions: Subject small sample size, procedure is safe efficacious nAMD loss. correlates BCDVA; test may be useful screening candidate treatment managing expectations.

Central corneal thickness in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration.
PURPOSE To compare the central corneal thickness (CCT) measurements of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and control subjects. METHODS The CCT value (measured with ultrasound corneal pachymetry) of 130 eyes (130 patients, 1 eye from each patient) with neovascular AMD (AMD group) and 98 eyes (98 patients, 1 eye from each patient) of similar age, sex, and eye's ax...

BACKGROUND/AIMS To evaluate baseline low-luminance visual acuity (LLVA) as a predictor of visual acuity improvement in patients with neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) receiving antivascular endothelial growth factor A (anti-VEGF) therapy. METHODS In the HARBOR trial, 1084 treatment-naïve patients ≥50 years of age with subfoveal wAMD received intravitreal ranibizumab 0....
متن کاملLow-level laser therapy improves vision in patients with age-related macular degeneration.
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study of a case series was to examine the effects of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). BACKGROUND DATA AMD affects a large proportion of the elderly population; current therapeutic options for AMD are limited, however. PATIENTS AND METHODS In total, 203 patients (90 men and 113 women; mean age 63.4 +/- 5.3...
متن کاملMeasurement of Choroidal Neovascular Area in Age-Related Macular Degeneration using Modified Otsu’s Thresholding Method
Introduction: Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is one of the most important causes of irreversible blindness in the developed world and prevents the affected person from performing simple tasks such as reading, driving and facial recognition. In the AMD, new blood vessels grow underneath the retina in a process called choroidal neovascularisation (CNV). There ...
