CORDIC Processors: A Comparative Perspective of Radix-8, Radix-4, and Radix-2

Some data streaming applications make use of digital signal processing (DSP). The DSP algorithms include transcendental functions like trigonometry, inverse logarithms, exponentials, and other in addition to the basic arithmetic operations multiplication division. By modifying a few simple parameters, it is relatively generate large range functions, including logarithmic, exponential, trigonometric ones. Since CPU needs around n rounds process bits incoming data, CORDIC radix-2 causes substantial amount latency. Therefore, radix-4 (which plus one) radix-8 may be used reduce time needed for calculation. As result, total iterations drop from n/2 n/4. simulated synthesized, was shown that design had significantly higher power consumption, with greater throughput than Coordinate Rotational Digital Computer (CORDIC) designs an additional area overhead. new algorithm also reduces twiddle elements minimum while simplifying address generating process. A novel approach makes integrating FFT processors on single chips much easier. This demonstrated notably efficient procedures such as SVD or matrix triangularization, which calculation rotation angle necessary.
