Copper Slag of Pyroxene Composition as a Partial Replacement of Natural Aggregate for Concrete Production

چکیده
Copper slag, a by-product of the pyrometallurgical process used for obtaining copper from ore in Bor, Serbia, contains mainly silicon, iron, calcium, and aluminium oxides. Due to such properties, it is disposed landfills. Despite favourable technical properties slag aggregates possess, as low-water absorption (WA24 0.6%), low resistance fragmentation (LA 10%), wear (MDE 4%), its use construction industry still limited. The results testing (CSAs) potential replacement natural river aggregate (RA) are presented this paper. experiments included tests on three concrete mixtures with partial coarse slag. RA particle sizes 8/16 mm 16/31.5 CSA amount 20% + 50% resulted an increase compressive strength 12.4% 10.5%, respectively. content led decrease water penetration salt-frost concrete, whereas chloride ion did not change significantly.

Performance of Copper Slag on Strength and Durability Properties as Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregate in Concrete
concrete occupies unique position among the modern construction materials. Concrete is a material used in building construction, consisting of a hard, chemically inert particulate substance, known as aggregate (usually made for different types of sand and gravel), that is bond by cement and water. Now a days utilization of industrial soil waste or secondary materials has encouraged in construct...
متن کاملApplying Solid Residues of Copper Slag in Kerman Sarcheshme of Iran as Sand Replacement for Self-Compacting Concrete
The reuse of mineral wastes is one of the most suitable solid wastes solutions. Throughout the world, the large of the granular aggregates used in constructions exploit natural mountain resources and rivers. Using mineral waste as a part of concrete, it can be helped to create a green environment and also contribute to sustainable development. Since the copper production process in the Sarchesh...
متن کاملThe Behaviour of Concrete by Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregate with Copper Slag and Cement with GGBS - An Experimental Study
The replacement of natural resources in the manufacture of cement and sand is the present issue in the present construction scenario. Copper slag and Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag (GGBS) are industrial by-product materials produced from the process of manufacturing copper and iron. Use of Copper slag and GGBS does not only reduce the cost of construction but also helps to reduce the impa...

Environmental and economic factors increasingly encourage higher utility of industrial by-products. The basic objective of this study was to identify alternative source for good quality aggregates which is depleting very fast due to fast pace of construction activities in India. EAF oxidizing slag as a by-product obtained during the process in steel making industry provides great opportunity to...
متن کاملCockle Shell: a Potential Partial Coarse Aggregate Replacement in Concrete
Effort towards preserving natural coarse aggregate for future generation and reducing cockle shell waste originating from the fisheries industry has initiated studies on possibility of integrating this waste in concrete production. This paper presents the result on the workability and compressive strength of concrete containing various percentage of cockle shell content as partial coarse aggreg...
