Cool?season lawn performance as influenced by ‘Microclover’ inclusion and supplemental nitrogen

چکیده
Lawns require a steady supply of nitrogen (N) to maintain green color and seasonal shoot density. Excess N fertilization can lead surface groundwater contamination, suggesting need for alternative turf strategies that reduce the reliance on frequent applications. Grass-legume mixtures may be one solution since legumes, like white clover (Trifolium repens L.), biologically fix atmospheric add it soil via mineralization. This field study evaluated growth, appearance persistence cool-season grass grass-legume mixture containing low growing Trifolium repens, ‘Microclover’ (MC) with without supplemental (0 vs. 98 kg ha?1 yr?1) over two seasons. Turf MC receiving produced most dry matter yield (DMY) 15583 highest mean visual appearance. By contrast, unfertilized least DMY, 3815 ha?1, poorest appearance, which lacked vigor was negatively affected by leaf blighting diseases. The moderate 8754 an acceptable Clover populations decreased time in both fertilized but less so where not applied. decline could possibly remedied periodic overseeding. In summary, these results suggest grass-clover lawn provide persistent visually would fertilization.

N uptake and yield of wheat as influenced by integrated use of organic and mineral nitrogen
The effect of integrated use of mineral and organic N sources (farmyard manure, poultry manure, and Filter Cake) on yield and N uptake of wheat were assessed in biennial field experiment carried out on silty clay loam soil in Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture, Tarnab, Peshawar Pakistan during 2005-07. Combined dose of N provided from all sources was applied @120 kg ha-1. There were 17 ...
