Conversion of sugars to methyl lactate with exfoliated layered stannosilicate UZAR-S4

• Exfoliation of layered stannosilicate greatly increases its catalytic performance. In sucrose conversion, the exfoliated catalyst shows a methyl lactate yield approximately 50 %. Exfoliated is active after several reaction cycles. Biomass has been shown as an alternative to fossil fuels for obtaining chemicals. this work, transformation sugars into (ML) at 160 °C was carried out using UZAR-S3 (University Zaragoza-solid number 3) and delaminated material UZAR-S4 4) obtained from exfoliation.
